About the ingredients:
Arnica: Arnica has been shown to reduce bruises and can be applied to them as long as the skin isn't broken. Arnica has also been shown to be helpful for osteoarthritis. When applied topically, these tests showed that, when applied topically, arnica was as effective as anti inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen in helping osteoarthritis in the hands and knees. It has also been shown to be helpful for the pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. Arnica is a potent anti inflammatory that is very helpful for muscle strains, aches, stiffness as well as muscle soreness from intense workouts. Arnica dilates capillaries which increases circulation, improving blood flow to and from the injury. It also increases the flow of white blood cells, which process congested blood to help disperse trapped fluid from the muscles, joints and bruised tissue. Many athletes use arnica to recover from muscle strain and speed recovery after work-outs.
Comfrey Root: The scientific name for comfrey is symphytum officinale. Well known and widely used by early Greeks and Romans, its very name, symphytum, from the Greek symphyo means to "make grow together", referring to its traditional use of healing fractures. Comfrey has mild astringent and drawing qualities, making it useful for alleviating cysts, toning a loss of texture/firmness on the skin and increasing movement of fluid within the joints. It is anti-inflammatory and analgesic and has been used externally as an ointment to assist in the healing of sprains and broken bones. It also shows effectiveness in treating atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema.
Wintergreen Essential Oil: Wintergreen oil is popular for its pain-relieving effects, which can help alleviate headache, muscle cramps, joint pain, tendonitis and bone pain. Wintergreen oil also helps drive out stress and tension. When rubbed on the affected area, wintergreen essential oil is readily absorbed through the skin and the presence of methyl salicylate induces numbness and an anesthetic effect on the nerves there. It also increases circulation of the blood and brings warmth to the area. This activity, apart from bringing warmth to the affected area, helps to clear obstructions in the flow of blood, which is one of the major causes of rheumatism and arthritis, and it does not let toxins like uric acid accumulate at that spot.
Peppermint Essential Oil: As a natural analgesic (pain reliever) peppermint oil can help to alleviate joint pain such as back pain, neck pain, knee pain and more and also help to relax sore, aching muscles. Due to menthol's cooling effect, the oil helps to numb the painful area and it's anti-inflammatory properties help to relieve inflammation in the joints. Apart from being an analgesic, peppermint oil has an anesthetic effect that helps to soothe both the inflammation and the pain associated with joint pain
Eucalyptus Essential Oil: Similar to the pain-relieving effects the oil has on joint pain, the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of eucalyptus oil are also especially helpful when it comes to soothing tired, aching muscles. Also, since eucalyptus oil is a natural vasodilator, it helps to widen blood vessels and improve blood circulation encouraging a free flow of blood to the muscles.
Camphor Essential Oil: The cooling and penetrating effects of camphor oil make it an anti-inflammatory and sedative agent. It is very helpful for nearly all types of inflammation. A detoxifier and a stimulant for the circulatory system, camphor oil improves blood circulation and gives relief to rheumatic diseases, arthritis, and gout.
